Introduction to the "Popularity" Element:
Click Popularity

Clicks are another way of measuring popularity. Of the millions of results that search engines serve up, only a few of them get clicked. Sometimes people come back to the search result shortly after they click, and click another link or make a new search.

All this can, if analyzed, tell the search engine about what users find most important, what triggers them most, and where they find the best answers to their searches. However, it is not widely used and certainly not a dominating factor.

Also, this is one of the parameters of search engine rankings that you should not try to manipulate in any way! Don't try to boost your own click-popularity by doing hundreds of searches, and clicking on all of your own links - it won't work. Search engines that apply this method are way too smart for that. Doing so will only harm your business in the long run.
